Motion Studies
|
These embroidery pieces were created by observing different animals and translating their physical movements and actions into abstracted line, color, and shape. A futile attempt to record and convey fleeting moments as a dataset.

Growing up on the shore of Lake Erie, I have always had an affinity for the horizon line. That liminal space where earth and sky touch has always held my attention. On my drive to an artist residency in Nebraska, I was surprised that the horizon was not nearly as flat as I had always been lead to believe. (Keep in mind, I lived in Illinois for a year which is named the second flattest state in the USA.) The gentle undulations of the landscape across Ogallala Lake inspired this piece.

A Boy and His Boat
|
An experiment in combining illustration with alternative photographic processes. This hand-bound book is made up of cyanotypes that were created from drawings on acetate and layers of fabric that were placed on the hand-coated light sensitive paper then exposed to the sun.
