Last Saturday my class (Problems in Photography) held their exhibition titled The Looking Box. I ran the course as an independent study, with professional practice assignments on the side to help prepare them for the art world post graduation. One of the assignments I created was to organize their own exhibition. With some guidance, they put together this show to display some of the work they've been creating throughout the semester. My intent was to guide them to learn the process of planning a successful exhibition for their own future possibilities. The show was announced in several newspapers, one of which actually came out to the show for an interview.
I am extremely proud with how the exhibition turned out, and the crowd that came out to see their work. Some of them had never shown their work before and others had only shown one piece, so this was an exciting night for them. I feel that they have all learned some valuable skills through this and I couldn't help but share the "proud parent" feelings I held that night.
Words and Stuff.
