When I was younger, before joining academia, I used to draw ALL of the time. Even throughout undergrad I drew a lot (outside of assigned work), in my notebooks and added little designs to my personal belongings. Grad school was an entirely different kind of monster. I would be lying if I said that grad school secretly didn't kill a lot of my natural urge to create. I don't want to be that way any longer. I must start working again, and often.
I'm trying to get back into the habit of drawing and sketching just for the fun of it. Hell, doing any sort of art related work, just for the fun of it. That's when the idea of a collaboration came to mind, something fun but that still forces somewhat of a deadline.
My friend Zack and I are in the extremely early phases of possibly getting something going. He also has a background in photography but still loves illustration/mixed media as well. We haven't had a brainstorming session yet but who knows what we'll come up with? I'm pretty excited about what we might create in the near future.
I used this drawing as a sort of "warm up" for myself in preparation because it's been so long since I have drawn much. I haven't drawn much at all in a long time, let alone figural work. Keep your eyes peeled for what we may start to form together.
Words and Stuff.
